WIKA’Y GALING! uses enjoyable children’s literature and interactive activities anchored on Philippine culture to make Filipino relevant and interesting -- even fun! Our online program helps students age 8-16 gradually develop vocabulary, grammar, writing, and reading comprehension skills, enabling them to build confidence and fluency in Filipino.
WIKA'Y GALING! students enjoy small-group classes twice a week (45 minutes each), reading and writing enrichment activities on other days of the week, and unlimited access to a learning portal that includes over 100 e-storybooks from Adarna House. Description
Levels 1-7
Children with little exposure to Filipino begin with lessons on basic grammar and simple sentence structure. Through guided practice and encouragement of regular language usage, they learn to be more confident when they read, write words, and use them in daily conversation.
Levels 8-14
Students with limited vocabulary enjoy interactive lessons that help them acquire good oral communication skills and understand broad grammar rules with correct usage. They learn to speak, write and understand simple to complex sentences, and compose short paragraphs. Learned skills enable them to confidently use the language in simple conversation and improve in academics.
Levels 15-24
For students who can speak in Filipino but demonstrate limited comprehension and writing skills, targeted lessons improve confidence in using the language. Reading strategies, content specific words, figurative language and sentence structure are taught while being given different prompts to improve written output.
Levels 25-32
These levels provide learners help with language mechanics which hinders effective writing in Filipino. Students are given exercises on sentence conventions, construction and word choice, writing summaries and evaluating texts.
Levels 33-40
Students for high school- and college-level Filipino are prepared by teaching effective writing techniques in Filipino. They are exposed to various types of academic writing, and taught essay development methods and critical approaches in Philippine literature.
